Position Title: Pharmacist in Charge
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Employment Status: Full-time

Overview:
The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is responsible for the operational excellence, regulatory compliance, clinical service delivery, team development, and marketing initiatives of the pharmacy. This leadership role ensures the financial success of the pharmacy by meeting sales targets, managing expenses, optimizing inventory, and fostering a high-performing team. The PIC will serve as the face of the pharmacy, enhancing its reputation through exceptional customer interactions and ensuring compliance with all legal and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of inventory, including medications, chemicals, and supplies, ensuring proper stock levels.
  • Utilize pharmacy management software (e.g., Computer Rx, Lab computers, PK software) to streamline operations and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards for all dosage forms and staff validation procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in adherence to established procedures and safety protocols.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Keep current with all local, state, and federal laws governing pharmacy operations, ensuring full compliance at all times.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation as required by law and professional standards.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify and address compliance gaps.

Clinical Services:

  • Provide consultations on prescriptions, including compounded and commercially available medications.
  • Collaborate with physicians to develop treatment plans using both compounded and nutraceutical options.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for wellness and treatment information, offering personalized patient care.
  • Stay updated with advancements in pharmacy and compounding practices through ongoing education and training (minimum 15 hours annually).

Team Development:

  • Supervise and mentor Staff Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Clerks, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support professional growth opportunities.
  • Cultivate a culture that aligns with the pharmacy’s values, mission, and vision.

Marketing and Brand Development:

  • Enhance the pharmacy’s reputation by creating a positive customer experience that reinforces the brand.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to drive customer engagement and revenue growth.
  • Act as a liaison between the pharmacy and community, building relationships with healthcare professionals and customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Current and valid California pharmacy license.
  • At least five years of pharmacy experience, including one year in a management role.
  • Minimum of one year of compounding experience.
  • Strong clinical background with two years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands for various tasks.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Work environment noise level is moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65.00+ per hour (based on experiance) 

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
